KVAB Da Vinci lecture on Franco-Flemish polyphony

On Wednesday 19 March, Bart Demuyt, General Director of the Alamire Foundation and member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB), will lead the session entitled De Franco-Vlaamse polyfonie - Complexe meerstemmigheid en emoties in het werk van Du Fay en tijdgenoten as part of the KVAB Da Vinci Lectures series.

The lecture forms a bridge to our concert Guillaume Du Fay: Homo Universalis during the early music festival Passie van de Stemmen, which, in the context of 600 years of KU Leuven, is completely dedicated to the sound world of the (early) fifteenth century. Franco-Flemish polyphonists and performers dominated the musical discourse at that time: their work was sought after at the most important courts and religious institutions from the Low Countries to Italy and Central Europe. Discover the fascinating world of these leading 'polyphonic masters' during the lecture at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels.
