Klara’s Choice : CD ‘PARIS 1200 - École de Notre-Dame’

Our latest CD recording  - ‘PARIS 1200 : École de Notre-Dame’ - was featured in ‘De keuze van Klara’ (‘Klara’s Choice’) on 21 February. You can listen to the excerpt here.

Klara: ‘Around 1200, the Gothic architecture of the new cathedral of Paris led to a turning point in the history of music. For alongside Gregorian chant, polyphonic music emerged that still sounds quite experimental, according to Mark Janssens. Paul Van Nevel and the Huelgas Ensemble perform this music by Léonin and Pérotin with a stunning result. Isn’t it remarkable how, even after more than 800 years, this early polyphony continues to move us?’
