Dear Festivalgoer,
For the third time, the Huelgas Ensemble cordially invites you to its traditional Pentecost Festival in Talant (Burgundy).
If you want to enjoy three days of vocal polyphony from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, if you want to fall from one surprise to another, if you want to be confronted with unknown composers and their secular and sacred compositions, do not hesitate to mark 26, 27 and 28 May 2023 in your diary. And as in the previous editions, our own festival guarantees interaction with the public (you choose the repertoire for the final concert), top-level performances and surprising guests.
I look forward to greeting you personally in Talant!
Paul Van Nevel

Souvenirs of Talant 2022
3 - 4 - 5 June 2022
The Huelgas Ensemble in Talant (Burgundy)
Artistic director: Paul Van Nevel
After the overwhelming success of the first edition of our Pentecost Festival in 2019, we were delighted to present - after the interruption due to the pandemic - the second edition of the festival in 2022.
For three days, our audience could indulge itself in unprecedented vocal polyphony, enjoying perfect performances in the magical late Romanesque church of the tranquil village of Talant.
The main focus of the festival was on the three evening concerts that were briefly, but illuminatingly, commentated by Paul Van Nevel, and during which a number of surprising experiments were conducted. The other events included two late night concerts of Lamentations, a lecture on 15th and 16th century anonymous composers, an organ recital by Jos van Immerseel, a programme of Wolfgang Rihm with the Minguet Quartet, a Visite guidée (interesting art history guided tour), the fascinating forgotten art of story telling with Emmanuel de Lattre, and an initiation into Renaissance dance art for the school children of Talant.
And, last but not least, the festival bar ‘Chez Josquin’ - situated in the beautiful Gothic Wine Cellar of Talant - provided the perfect setting for our internationally colourful audience to mingle with the performers.
The festival was made possible thanks to the financial support and encouragement of the following:
Professor Herman baron Daems
Professor and Mrs Bart and Hilde De Moor - Devoghel
Mr Piet baron Van Waeyenberge
KU Leuven Research & Development
Fund + Leuven
And all our generous donors
