We waren verheugd om op 4 februari de 80ste verjaardag van Paul Van Nevel te vieren, waarmee hij meer dan 50 jaar als artistiek leider van het Huelgas Ensemble markeert! Paul verkeert nog steeds in uitstekende gezondheid, zit boordevol energie en plant nieuwe muzikale avonturen. Klara sloot zich aan bij de festiviteiten met een interview met Paul en Mark Janssens. From old notes to new blossoms
Paul Van Nevel on his succession and the Huelgas compass
After a career spanning over 55 years, Paul Van Nevel finds himself at a turning point. Over the coming years, German tenor Achim Schulz will gradually take on a larger role within the Huelgas Ensemble. During Laus Polyphoniae, Van Nevel and Schulz will each have their moment: one ensemble, two concerts, two visions. A unique opportunity to witness how a lifetime’s work is slowly passed on, and how early music remains alive in new hands. Julie Hendrickx in conversation with Paul Van Nevel.
