The Magic of Polyphony

CD info

For several years, the Huelgas Ensemble had been looking for a suitable place to set up its own festival. In 2019, the time had finally come: Talant, a small village situated on an altitude a few kilometres from Dijon, the Burgundian capital, turned out to be the perfect setting - quiet (no shops, cafés or restaurants), and with a Romanesque church endowed with heavenly acoustics.

The festival of seven concerts given by the Huelgas Ensemble over the Whitsun weekend was recorded by Deutsche Harmonia Mundi. With a wide selection of works, this release offers a fascinating sound journey through the magical world of polyphony, and an aural document that represents the three pillars of the festival: unknown repertoire, unjustly obscure composers and experiments that fall outside the normal concert season.
